On July 7th, 2025, Great Yarmouth Charter Academy will proudly kick off its series of inaugural international trips as part of its much-anticipated 'Activities Week.' The first destination, the enchanting region of Aix-en-Provence and Marseille in France, promises to be an unforgettable experience for students.

Initial interest in the trip has been overwhelming, with more than 70 families attending an information event designed to prepare and guide parents on how to support their children in participating in this exciting venture. The event showcased the myriad opportunities available to broaden the horizons of young people and enrich their experiences through international travel.

The week-long itinerary is packed with engaging activities, beginning with a bus journey from Great Yarmouth to the airport for an early morning flight from London to Marseille. Once in France, students will have the chance to explore the charming streets of Aix-en-Provence, with stops including local markets and picnic lunches that showcase the region's vibrant culture and cuisine.

Highlights of the schedule include visits to iconic sites such as the Oppidum of Entremont and leisurely city bus rides that will offer students a unique perspective of the beautiful landscapes and historic architecture. In addition, evenings will be spent enjoying meals at La Nativité, giving students a taste of local French flavour.

The school’s leadership is thrilled about this initiative, emphasising the importance of international travel in fostering personal growth, independence, and cultural understanding among students.

Dean Rosembert, Principal said,

"Our commitment to providing our pupils with the opportunity to experience diverse cultures is at the heart of our mission. We believe that exposure to new environments not only fosters understanding and appreciation of global perspectives, but also inspires our young people to aspire to greater heights in their education, future careers, and studies. Every trip we undertake broadens their horizons and equips them with the skills needed to thrive in a diverse world."

This trip is just the first in a series of planned adventures designed to create lasting memories and broaden student experiences that will surely influence them for years to come.

As families eagerly discuss the potential for future trips, the excitement in the air indicates a new chapter for the school's Activities Week, opening doors for students to explore the world beyond their classrooms. With each trip, the goal remains the same: to create enriching experiences that equip young people with the skills and perspectives needed for the future.
