Checkmate! Exciting Chess Tournament Results: Charter Advances to the next Stage!

This week marked an exhilarating day at the English Schools Chess Tournament hosted by Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, where teams showcased their strategic prowess across five intense matches. The stakes were high, with teams needing to secure at least 50% of their games won to move forward in the competition. 

Charter Academy earned a coveted spot in the next round of Regional Finals in the Spring of 2025! The atmosphere was electric as leading players Lukas Beleckas, Adam Cane, and Pijus Simonkevicius each contributed significantly to the team, scoring 3 out of 5 wins apiece. Their teamwork and strategy proved successful, and the celebration of their achievement promises to be a memorable event!

In celebrating this achievement, lead organiser and Enrichment Co-ordinator,  Adam James shared,

"We are incredibly proud of our students and how they performed in the regional heats. Their hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and their success reflects the strength of our chess program which meets every week on Wednesday evenings.”
