Great Yarmouth Charter Academy Celebrates Huge Success at Gaining Silver in Our Intra-Trust Swimming Competition
BackGreat Yarmouth Charter Academy proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of our Year 7 and 8 girls who shone at the recent intra-trust swimming competition held on November 26th. Featuring participants from nine secondary schools across Norfolk and Waveney, the event was a fantastic showcase of talent and sportsmanship. Hosted at the prestigious UEA Sportspark, the competition provided a thrilling platform for our young swimmers to demonstrate their skills in one of the country’s few Olympic-sized pools.
The day was filled with spirited races, representing Year 7 to 10 with both boys and girls throughout the day competing fiercely and showcasing their dedication to the sport. Our talented girls' teams in Year 7 and 8 excelled throughout the event, culminating in an inspiring performance that earned them silver medals in their respective categories. The camaraderie and encouragement among teammates were palpable as they cheered each other on, embodying the true spirit of competition and teamwork.
Special mention goes to Ruby Oxborough, who not only participated but also emerged as the standout swimmer of the day. Ruby clinched the prestigious trophy for the grand final 50m race, establishing herself as the top Year 7 and 8 girl in the competition. Her exceptional performance highlighted her hard work and determination, serving as an inspiration to her peers. The day was filled with excitement and enthusiasm, with a total of 96 races featuring both individual and thrilling relay events.
It's heartening to see many of our pupils ignited by a newfound passion for swimming, with several expressing interest in pursuing the sport further. We commend all our Year 9 and 10 participants who joined in the spirit of competition and supported their teammates, making the event even more memorable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at UEA Sportspark for their exceptional hospitality and to the City of Norwich Swimming Club for ensuring the smooth running of this remarkable event.
