On Tuesday, Charter's basketball teams showcased their talent and determination at the Inspiration Trust 3X3 Basketball competition. Competing against eight other schools, our young athletes delivered an impressive performance, earning praise and admiration for their efforts.
The competition saw teams from years 7 to 10 participate, with several standout achievements. The Year 7 boys, Year 7 girls, and Year 8 boys teams all secured bronze medals, demonstrating their skill and teamwork. The Year 9 boys and Year 10 boys teams went a step further, earning silver medals and showcasing their competitive spirit.
A special highlight of the event was Charlie Payne's recognition as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Year 10 competition across all participating schools. Charlie's exceptional performance and dedication were instrumental in his team's success.
Overall, Charter placed 3rd in the trust basketball competition, a remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work and commitment of our students and coaches. This success has also propelled the school to 2nd place in the overall standings after three events (football, swimming, and basketball), moving up from fourth place and now trailing only Hethersett Academy.
Head of PE, Paul Andrews, expressed his pride in the teams, stating, "Our students have shown incredible dedication and teamwork throughout the competition. Their hard work has truly paid off, and I couldn't be prouder of their achievements."
He added, "Special congratulations to Charlie Payne for his MVP award. His performance was outstanding and a testament to his commitment to the sport."
Players also shared their excitement and pride in their accomplishments. Year 9 player, Essien, said, "Winning the silver medal was amazing! We worked really hard and it feels great to see it pay off."
Congratulations to all our young stars for their outstanding performance and for making Charter proud!
