While most schools marked World Book Day on Thursday, March 6th, Charter Academy took it a step further by celebrating an entire World Book Week! This year's theme, "Reading Your Own Way," embraced all forms of reading, from graphic novels and magazines to blogs and articles, emphasising that all reading is valuable.

Throughout the week, Year 7 and Year 8 pupils had the unique opportunity to design book sleeves that captured important moments in their lives. This creative project was a collaborative effort between the English and Art departments, and the beautifully designed sleeves will be proudly displayed in the school library.

Adding to the excitement, pupils engaged in a "Story in a Day" activity, reading Roald Dahl's thought-provoking tale, "Genesis and Catastrophe." The story sparked deep discussions and led students to ponder the intriguing question, "What if?"

One of the week's highlights was the highly anticipated cake competition. Pupils showcased their culinary skills by designing and baking literary-inspired creations. The delicious entries were judged by the esteemed panel of Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Demarco, and Ms. Clegg, who had the delightful task of sampling each masterpiece.

To top it all off, staff members joined in the fun by dressing up as their favourite literary characters, including beloved titles such as "The Gruffalo," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Harry Potter."

World Book Week at Charter Academy was a resounding success, filled with creativity, enthusiasm, and a shared love for reading in all its forms.
