We are thrilled to announce that our pupils have been working closely with our partners from Out There Arts in Great Yarmouth on an exciting collaboration with Original Projects to build their own 'Cardboard World'. This hands-on workshop encourages creativity and innovation, allowing students to prototype ideas, explore material possibilities, and share their interests through rapid building and creative experimentation.

Anna Ricks, the programme lead for the event, shared her enthusiasm: "This project has been an incredible journey of creativity and collaboration. Watching the students transform simple materials into imaginative models has been truly inspiring."

Sean Powell, Senior Vice Principal for the academy, overseeing the personal development programme, added: "Our pupils have shown remarkable creativity and teamwork. This collaboration with Out There Arts and Original Projects has provided them with a unique opportunity to express themselves and develop new skills."

Eduard, a Year 7 pupil who attends every Wednesday after school to collaborate with other projects happening in the local area, said:

"I love coming to these workshops. It's so much fun to create and build with my friends, and I've learnt so much about working with different materials. I also love getting involved with the Out There Arts team on circus and gymnastic skills!"

About the Workshop

Build Your Own Cardboard World is a dynamic workshop where students use tape and cardboard to create models of their imagination—whether shelters, wearables, machines, creatures, or portals to unreal worlds. The process involves breaking ideas apart, rethinking them, and then making, unmaking, and remaking—no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to create!

About Original Projects

Julia and Kaavous run OriginalProjects;, an arts organisation in Great Yarmouth that brings people together through exhibitions, workshops, public art, festivals like YARMONICS, and even podcasts, walking tours, and feasts. They also manage PRIMEYARC, a community arts hub with exhibitions, artist studios, and creative spaces. Their work supports local artists and fosters a sense of pride, belonging, and creativity in the community.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils' achievements and look forward to seeing their imaginative creations come to life!
