Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is set to host an exciting event this Wednesday, where pupils will collaborate with renowned local graffiti artist Carl Wright, better known as STANE, to create a vibrant tapestry of art and fabric. This unique project aims to capture the essence of Great Yarmouth's iconic landscapes, including the Hippodrome, Britannia Pier, and beloved family holiday destinations.

The Printmaking Workshop invites students to join STANE in designing bespoke garment fabric that represents Great Yarmouth in all its glory. Using stencils of iconic landmarks, acrylic paints, spray paints, and more, participants will create a tapestry that will later be transformed into sweatshirts and hoodies for the Out There Festival. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to design and customise tote bags and bandanas to take home as a memento of their creative efforts.

STANE, whose name stands for "Still Trying All Nearest Exits," is a graffiti artist born and raised in Great Yarmouth. Known for their bold, eye-catching cartoons and detailed line work, STANE's art adds a dynamic visual element to the urban landscape. Their pieces often explore themes relevant to the local community, offering a unique perspective on the town.

Despite maintaining a degree of anonymity, STANE's murals have become recognisable features throughout Great Yarmouth, contributing significantly to the town's visual identity. Their work is accessible to all, providing a form of public art that resonates with the community.

This collaboration between Charter Academy pupils and STANE promises to be a memorable event, celebrating the artistic spirit of Great Yarmouth and fostering a sense of community pride. It is part of the school's drive to support local organisations to work closely with pupils to learn and express what it means to them to grow up in our amazing community with a focus on Music and the Arts every other Wednesday evening from 4-7pm. Be sure to keep an eye out for the stunning tapestry and the creative garments that will emerge from this inspiring workshop!
