Great Yarmouth Charter Academy Scores High at Greshams and UEA Sportspark Netball

Last week, Great Yarmouth Charter Academy's netball teams showcased their exceptional skills and sportsmanship at the Gresham's tournament and Trust competition, earning accolades and admiration from all quarters.

The Year 8 girls' netball team travelled to Gresham's School to participate in the U13 Cup tournament. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular, securing 3rd place in their group stage and advancing to compete for the plate. Despite being outplayed in the first knockout match, the team demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship, shaking hands at the end of each match and selecting a player's player for every opposing team. Netball coach Mrs. Long expressed her pride, saying,

"Our girls played with heart and determination, embodying the true spirit of Charter. Their sportsmanship and teamwork were commendable."

The Year 7 girls' netball team embarked on their first Trust competition, putting in positive performances and demonstrating a solid understanding of netball rules. They secured 2 wins out of 7 matches, with Captain Poppy Tew leading the team with enthusiasm. Frankie was awarded the GYCA player of the tournament for her positive attitude and hard work in every game. "This team has shown great promise and commitment to training. We are excited to see their progress next year," said Mrs. Long.

The Year 9 netball team, a mix of new and experienced players, also participated in the Trust competition. Although they didn't reach the top three positions, their positive netball skills were on display throughout the day. Eliana was awarded the GYCA player award for her positivity on court and her hard work and commitment in defence. Principal Mr. Rosembert praised the teams, stating, "Our students have shown remarkable dedication and sportsmanship. Their achievements in these tournaments reflect the values of participation and respect we uphold at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy."
