GYCA Partners with Freshly GREATed for ‘Play Produce Promote’ Events
BackGreat Yarmouth Charter Academy has partnered with a local youth charity, Freshly GREATed, to enthuse musicians, performers and sound engineers alike to participate in a series of events called ‘Play Produce Promote’ for young music fans aged 14 to 25.
The first of which was held on the evening of Friday 22nd September at the Drill House, Great Yarmouth, with headliner and Norwich musician, Seb Bates, aka $EBBUKU
Seb has been making music for over four years cutting into the mainstream hip hop music scene. The young artist showcased his talents to Year 10 to Year 13 with an amazing concert, placing all his stories, experiences and ‘realness’ into his music. Students were treated to a live performance with live drums and DJ. Seb inspired our students with his self-produced act, and was supported by other local artists such as Pagolin and Primrose.
Gary Standley, who oversees the delivery of ‘Play Produce Promote’ said:
“We love students to get involved including our Open Mic and gig events as performers and behind the scenes too”, “Our next workshop and Open Mic event, is on Saturday 28th October from 2pm to 5pm. We will be joined by singer song writer Juliet, who works as an artist at many of the Great Yarmouth Summer festivals. We will not only be hearing from her, but also focusing on songwriting, something that is an ongoing theme at our workshops.”
Sean Powell, Senior Vice Principal and Personal Development lead at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy said:
“We welcome partnering with local organisations to promote and provide a platform for the musical talents of of our pupils”, “This is a perfect opportunity to support our music scholarship programme as well as provide greater experience and exposure to pupils studying music and drama throughout key stage 3 and 4”
Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is committed to promoting musical and artistic talent that can lead to future career opportunities. The music and arts industry is a growing field with a variety of jobs available, from performers to sound engineers and producers. Encouraging students to explore their musical and artistic abilities could open doors to future career paths they may not have considered otherwise.
