A group of volunteers from Great Yarmouth Charter Academy took it upon themselves to make a difference in their local community by participating in a litter picking event at Beaconsfield Park. The event was aimed at improving the play spaces for local residents and young people, and the volunteers worked hard to make sure that the park was clean and tidy.

One of the young volunteers, who, spoke about the experience, saying, "I was so happy to be able to give back to my community. It was great to be able to make new friends and work together to make a positive change in our local area."

The event was a great success, and the volunteers received a lot of praise from local residents for their hard work and dedication. Thanks to their efforts, the park is now a clean and safe place for children to play and for local residents to enjoy. To celebrate, we held a picnic on the school grounds and cheered on House Sayer, who were proud to collect the most litter!

One passer by said,

"I was impressed to see a group of young students taking the initiative to clean up our town. It's great to see the younger generation taking responsibility for the environment and setting a positive example for others to follow,"

Anne Severino, who participated in the event said,

"I am always thrilled to see my pupils get involved in social action and volunteering to improve the local community. It's wonderful to see them take ownership of their surroundings and work together towards a common goal. It’s a perfect introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme that sees dozens of our students gain the Bronze and Silver award year after year"
