Corben’s ‘Shining’ fundraiser for Shine East-Norfolk

Great Yarmouth Charter Academy honoured a Year 13 pupil in the week before half-term during its ‘Restart the heart’ week in a series of events to showcase the importance of healthy and active lifestyles.

Corben Reynolds competed in the Manchester half marathon on Sunday 15th October which he completed in 1hrs 16 mins. He has now qualified to take part in an international competition which will be in Croatia representing England.

Corben in Year 13, said,

“For my half marathon I am raising money for a Nursery in Norfolk that looks after children with special needs. They support them as they can't go to a school because of their conditions and I'm trying to help them fundraise money to support these children. I also want to support them in their development of the building to make it a better environment for all.”

Corben, who is studying his A Levels at our sixth form, Sir Isaac Newton East, is 17 years old and runs for Great Yarmouth District Athletic Club. He has decided to raise money for Shine East Norfolk to buy the children that attend nursery and short break’s Christmas presents from Shine and joins the academy in fundraising for local children including our annual ‘Santa Run event’ for a local children’s hospice.

It is inspiring to see our students taking an active role in their community and making a difference in the lives of others. Corben's efforts in raising money for Shine East Norfolk are admirable and we fully support his cause. We wish him all the best for the upcoming international competition and are confident he will represent England with great pride and dedication.”
