Great Yarmouth Charter Academy pupils participate in UEA Engineering & Creative Industries Workshop
BackThe University of East Anglia (UEA) has partnered with Great Yarmouth Charter Academy to provide a series of workshops for every year group aimed at inspiring the next generation of students to take up undergraduate courses in Engineering and Creative industries. The Year 9 workshop titled ‘Into University’ was designed to provide pupils with a comprehensive overview of the opportunities available in these fields.
The workshop was delivered by experts in Engineering and Creative industries, who shared their experiences and knowledge with the pupils. The interactive format of the workshop allowed the pupils to engage with the speakers and tasks and ask questions, which enabled them to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
The event was a great success, with pupils expressing a newfound interest in Engineering and Creative industries. The partnership between UEA and Great Yarmouth Charter Academy has proven to be a great way to encourage pupils to explore their academic passions and pursue undergraduate courses in these fields.
Speaking about the workshop, a representative from UEA said:
"We are delighted to have partnered with Great Yarmouth Charter Academy to deliver this workshop. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of students to consider taking up undergraduate courses in areas that they excel in at Charter, particularly STEM and the Arts. We believe that partnerships like this are the key to providing pupils with the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their academic future."
The event is part of a wider programme of talks, workshops, and events designed to support schools' careers programmes and help towards achieving Gatsby Benchmark 7. UEA's outreach team is committed to providing young people with the right information, at the right time, and at the right level to help them achieve their very best.
Howard Wyatt, Careers lead for the school said:
“Choosing the right career path can be a daunting process, especially for young students who are about to make their first options choices at GCSE. That's why it's crucial to provide them with access to quality careers guidance that can help them make informed decisions about their future. By offering tailored advice and support early on from our university partners such as Cambridge and the UEA, we can equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers."
The partnership between UEA and Great Yarmouth Charter Academy demonstrates the importance of collaboration between educational institutions to provide pupils with the best possible opportunities for their future.
