Talented Musician Juliet Rocks Great Yarmouth Charter Academy with her Latest Track 'Just Around'
BackGreat Yarmouth Charter Academy hosted an exciting event on Tuesday, 12th March, with a special guest appearance from the talented musician and songwriter, Juliet. Pupils and staff were treated to a performance of her latest track 'Just Around' and also had the opportunity to collaborate with musicians from Year 7, 8 and 9 during their lunch break.
The event aimed to inspire and support pupils in exploring their interests and talents outside of the curriculum. Juliet's performance was not only entertaining but also served as a great introduction to the music and arts scene in the local area.
During the event, pupils had the opportunity to collaborate with Juliet and explore the creative process behind her latest singles, 'Dance with me' and 'Bound'. They were able to learn from her experiences in the industry and develop their own skills in music and songwriting.
Juliet's journey as a musician began when she studied music and drama at Cromer Academy, which is part of the family of schools in Inspiration Trust. Her success and appearance at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy was a testament to the quality of education and opportunities provided by the trust for aspiring musicians and artists.
The gig was followed by a free music concert that was hosted at the Drill House in central Great Yarmouth on the evening of Saturday 16th March supported by PlayPromoteProduce. The concert was open to all pupils aged 14-18 and featured a range of local artists and performers.
Sean Powell, Senior Vice Principal, said that "The idea for the event and concert began from a school council meeting where every pupil's views were considered on how best to develop our enrichment and curricular offer. Musical performance and songwriting were one of the top priorities for this summer. It is fantastic to see how the school values and incorporates the opinions and interests of its pupils into its curriculum and enrichment activities”
The event was a great success, with pupils expressing their delight in being able to collaborate with Juliet and being exposed to the vibrant music scene in the local area. The music and performing arts department is committed to providing pupils with opportunities to explore and develop their interests and talents in the field of music and the arts, and events like these are a testament to how we showcase our young performers. Juliet will join a range of musicians to start a series of songwriting and singing workshops every Thursday in April. Pupils can sign up each week to have expert coaching and advice in creating their own lyrics and ideas to come alive on stage at our next event in July.
